Claire is the founder and principle vocal tutor within Claire Thomas Vocal Coaching, and currently runs her private teaching studio just outside of Edinburgh. She initially trained at The University of Glasgow, The Royal Northern College of Music and The University of Edinburgh before combining her skills in vocal coaching with 2 further Postgraduate teaching diplomas and the Master of Education, Learning and Teaching in Performing Arts (Voice), from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Claire is currently working on her Professional Doctorate in Elite Performance with a specialism in Muscle Tension Dysphonia.

She has over 25 years of experience teaching students privately and within schools, colleges and universities across Scotland. She currently lectures in singing on the BA & MA Musical theatre degree programmes at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the BMus degree programme at Edinburgh University. Claire also teaches singing at Loretto Junior and Senior School - a private boarding school in Musselburgh.

Previous teaching includes:

Specialist lecturer in voice & singing within Fife College, Lecturer in Voice at Queen Margaret University College, Dundee College, Ayr College and Edinburgh College and Guest lecturer in singing for Musical Theatre at Morningside Advanced Training and Glasgow Academy of Musical Theatre. Arts.

Claire has performed in, directed and produced a huge variety of musical productions. She is a fully qualified teacher of singing and voice, member of The Association of Teachers of Singing, The British Voice Association and the GTCS, and continues her previous research and pedagogical development as she works towards her doctorate. She has just finished compiling an illustrated book of vocal anatomy, and has recently had her first paper published in The Journal of Voice.

Claire continues to work collaboratively with a large number of industry professionals and lecturers to deliver high quality sessions.

Claire teaches from her cottage studio 10 miles South of Edinburgh.
